Teaching Gender Ideology in Elementary School
After beating back "Intelligent Design" and "Creationism", why should we tolerate a new wave of anti-scientific, faith-based dogma in our schools?
Throughout the U.S., elementary and high school students are being taught that the sexual dimorphism characteristic of all mammals and many other species does not apply to humans. Gender - a slippery concept that is never properly defined - is said to supersede sex in determining who is a man and who is a woman. According to rapidly spreading gender ideology, only an individual can attest to whether they are male or female, and this self-identification supersedes any objective measure.
None of this would matter if it didn’t dramatically affect the rights of women, gays and lesbians; if it didn’t severely impact children’s health; if it didn’t reinforce reactionary sexist stereotypes; if it didn’t undermine scientific objectivity while silencing those who defend material reality.
So it does matter a great deal.
This important new video details what passes for gender and sex education in Seattle Public Schools. The materials are similar to those used throughout the country.
